Hi there. Welcome to
my newest blogspot… all about the
booming industry of test-prep and
especially tutoring! My name is Linda, and I am a freelance tutor. I
was an on-again
off-again tutor for a few years alongside my
part-time job as an ESL teacher to international students in the Bay
Area. In the past year, however, I have devoted more time as a tutor
to fund my way through graduate school. I currently tutor elementary
school students and high school students to help them with improving
their reading, writing, and language arts comprehension to meet the
Common Core standards. The more I tutor, the more I dive deeper into
the art of tutoring and incorporating improvements of teaching
strategies.
This blog is
intended to inform current tutors, prospective tutors, as well as
parents about the current practices and unique ways to spice up
tutoring sessions. Education is always evolving, and tutors must
accommodate to these changes in creative ways to engage the students
and achieve results within a reasonable time frame. My personal goal
is to blog more consistently and share my own observations as a
freelance tutor about what works and what can be improved when
considering various factors. I will also provide helpful resources
that I find helps my own teaching.
Please engage in the
posts and share any insights you may have.
